Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using I Wrote This (“IWT,” the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an educational institution, you represent that you have the authority to bind that institution to these terms.

2. Description of Service

IWT is an AI-powered authorship verification platform for educational institutions. The Service enables teachers to create assignments, students to submit work and participate in AI-conducted interviews, and administrators to manage organizational settings and review aggregate results.

3. User Accounts

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Students under 13 require parental consent facilitated through their educational institution.
• One account per person. Sharing accounts is not permitted.

4. User Roles & Responsibilities

Teachers

• You are responsible for the assignments you create and how interview results are used in grading decisions.
• AI assessments are advisory. Final academic decisions remain with the instructor.
• You must not use results as the sole basis for academic misconduct charges without independent verification.

Students

• You must participate in interviews honestly and in good faith.
• You must not attempt to manipulate or deceive the AI interview system.
• You must submit only your own work (or properly attributed collaborative work).

Administrators

• Organization administrators are responsible for managing teacher access and organizational policies.
• Administrators must ensure compliance with their institution’s own policies regarding student data.

5. Intellectual Property

Students retain ownership of their submitted work. By uploading content, students grant IWT a limited license to process the submission for the purpose of generating interview questions and assessments. This license terminates when the submission is deleted.

The IWT platform, including its AI models, interface, and documentation, is the intellectual property of I Wrote This.

6. AI Limitations

AI-generated assessments are probabilistic and may contain errors. The Service is designed to support — not replace — human judgment in academic evaluation. We do not guarantee the accuracy of any AI-generated assessment, and we strongly recommend that teachers review results in context before making academic decisions.

7. Acceptable Use

You must not:

• Use the Service for any purpose other than educational authorship verification.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, circumvent, or manipulate the AI interview system.
• Share access credentials or impersonate another user.
• Upload malicious content, malware, or content that violates applicable laws.
• Use the Service to discriminate against or harass any individual.

8. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice. Planned maintenance will be communicated in advance when possible.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, IWT shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service, including but not limited to academic decisions made based on AI-generated assessments.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Organizations may terminate their use of the Service at any time. Upon termination, we will retain data for a reasonable period to allow export, then delete it.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
